Take a look at some of the items of importance that make our school successful. | |||||
Our School takes pride in what we stand for, from our expertise in teaching abilities to the knowledge and understanding of what it takes to create a fun and exciting program for all levels of interest. After many years of teaching and working for various music schools, I became frustrated with many aspects of the business; a lack of good equipment, very strict cancellation policies with only the business in mind, and no curriculum or guidelines for the teachers. It was on the basis of improving on these aspects and achieving the highest level of education possible that Baltimore School for Drumming was founded. Playing drums can be great fun for all ages, as well as a tool in developing confidence and self esteem in our younger students. We welcome ages 7 years and older, beginner to advanced, as a hobby or a profession. It is important to know that each teacher has had a background check and must have a minimum of ten years teaching and playing experience. When it comes to choosing the right school you will find that all of our teachers must be able to work well with our younger students as well as adults, and be able to give a fun and creative lesson. We invite you to give us a call so we can answer any of your questions in more detail. When calling our office please leave a day and evening phone number, and your call will be returned promptly. Thank you for your interest and we look forward to hearing from you. |
Curriculum
Having a curriculum is important to the understanding of our business. That is why I have designed a curriculum which the teachers use. We believe that a concise curriculum is a key factor for effective learning. Our curriculums are designed specifically for each instrument and for all skill levels as well as being tailored to each individual student’s needs. It is just as important to have a solid curriculum for a beginner as it is for an advanced player. This way we can guarantee the best education for all our students. Cancellation Policy Our cancellation policy works with our students needs in mind. We understand last minute obligations, illness, and other situations that come up and will not bill you for every missed lesson. Equipment You will find only top of the line drums, hand drums, cymbals, mallet instruments, and hardware for students to use. Each of our studios contain two complete drum sets (Yamaha, DW, Pearl, and Mapex), cymbals (Zildjian, Sabian, and Paiste), metronomes and click tracks, recording capabilities (students can have their lessons recorded) and a professional sound system. Intro to Rock Band We offer opportunities for students with little to no ensemble experience, to play in a group setting with other musicians at or around their skill level. One-hour sessions are held once a week. An experienced music instructor, in the Music Workshop’s digital recording facilities, supervises each session. An mp3 copy of the recorded session is posted online for students to download and review during the week. Skills like reading chord charts, rhythm charts, following song form and arrangements, and playing with other musicians will be acquired. A repertoire of basic rock and roll songs ranging from The Beatles to Black Sabbath to Nirvana, as well as the 12-bar Blues form will be covered. The tuition for each session is $15 for Music Workshop and Baltimore School for Drumming students and $20 for non-students. Tuition is payable monthly. There is an initial one-time $20 registration fee. Contact The Music Workshop @ 410-323-1524 for available times. |
